Type Locality and Naming
Palk Strait (between Sri Lanka and India); composite of Wells PalkBay and Pesalai (absent in Delft well)

Lithology and Thickness
Limestone. Ca. 240 m of white limestone and minor calcareous claystones.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Unconformable in Palk Bay well on PalkStrait LateCretaceous Fm pelagic marl.
Upper contact
Conformable in Palk Bay well with PalkStrait Oligocene Fm limestone.
Regional extent
Found only in PalkBay well of Palk Strait (between Sri Lanka and southern tip of India). Pesalai Well is indicated as having 234 m of Paleocene and 240 m of Eocene -- but no lithology or age information given. Delft well has a hiatus spanning entire Late Cretaceous through Eocene.

In Palk Bay well are planktonic foraminifers of Cribrohantkenina inflate, Pellatispisa, Marozovella, Morazovella formosa; plus calcareous nannofossils.
